John D. Burke, CPA, MSJack is an audit partner at Dermody, Burke and Brown and serves as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer. He has accumulated over thirty five years of audit and accounting experience and has developed a wide range of industry specialties. Currently he serves on the firm’s Executive Committee. Jack holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Niagara University and a Master’s of Science in Accounting from Syracuse University. David provides professional services to a variety of not-for-profit organizations, including fine arts, foundations, human service providers, and health care organizations and facilities. He has extensive experience in consulting and advising his clients on a variety of issues, including internal control analysis and recommendations. David is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). David received the AICPA certificate of achievement in governmental and nonprofit accounting and auditing. He is also a member of the PKF North America Not-for-Profit Committee. He is a former board member and treasurer of ProLiteracy Worldwide that has over 100 partners in more than 60 countries around the world. David also serves as a board member of the New York State Board for Public Accountancy, which advises on licensing requirements, licensing examinations and practice issues, and board members participate in licensure disciplinary and/or restoration and moral character proceedings. Brian R. DuMond, CPABrian started with Dermody, Burke & Brown in January 1987, and leads the Firm’s Risk Management Niche. Brian’s focus over the last 23 years has been providing external audit, internal audit, and consulting services with specific focus in the School District, Financial Institution, and not for profit industries. In addition, he is often called upon to provide internal control and fraud prevention studies in a wide range of industries. Brian has been a guest speaker in regard to internal controls and fraud at various venues including a CNY Association of School Board’s training, an Institute of Internal Auditor of CNY Chapter meeting, and an Insurance Company’s Annual Event. Jo Ann Golden, CPAJo Ann Golden is the partner in charge of the Utica Regional Office of Dermody, Burke & Brown. Working with a diverse client base, she provides auditing, attest and tax services to numerous clients. Jo Ann was President of the 30,000 member New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) in 2002-2003, having previously served as a director and officer for nearly seven years. She is a past president of the Foundation for Accounting Education and is a former member of the Governing Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She is a trainer in Ethics Updates for the State Society and serves as a member of NYSSCPA’s Professional Ethics Committee. She serves as a member of the Society’s Financial Accounting Standards Committee. Jo Ann has served on numerous community Boards and is currently a Trustee of Utica College and is a member and immediate past chair of its Audit Committee. She is a member of the Board of Directors of New York Council of Not for Profits (NYCON). William J. Killory, CPABill Killory has been with Dermody, Burke & Brown since 1990 and leads the firm’s tax department. Bill began his career with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young) where his time was divided evenly between audit and taxation services for a wide variety of businesses. Following Ernst, he worked as a financial analyst for a publicly traded leasing company, developed financing sources for a large retail mall developer and served as group controller for a $100 million sales organization. Bill launched Dermody, Burke & Brown’s health care practice in 1991 and has been involved in practice start-ups, mergers and a wide variety of financial and organizational issues that affect medical practices.
