John joined the firm as a Principal in November 2019 after Barone, Howard & Co., a full-service accounting, tax and consulting firm based in New Hartford and Rome, merged with Dermody, Burke & Brown. He served as Managing Partner at Barone, Howard & Co. for over thirty years and has over fifty years of experience in the public accounting industry.  John provides a wide-range of services to individuals and a variety of businesses including corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships, trusts, estates, limited liability companies, and not-for-profit entities. He specializes in accounting, tax, consulting, business valuations, estate planning, divorce asset allocation, and tax planning, as well as business acquisitions, combinations, and dispositions.  John also has over 30 years of experience in investment real estate ownership and management.

John graduated from Le Moyne College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. He is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).  John also serves on the board of the Rotary.
