About Shannon
Shannon Nelson is a member in the Audit & Assurance department at DB&B. She has over 35 years of experience in audit and accounting services. She specializes in not-for-profit and Single Audit engagements, including audits conducted in accordance with Uniform Guidance. She has significant experience with compliance testing, internal control evaluation, and financial reporting for organizations receiving federal and state funding, along with assisting clients in navigating complex grant and regulatory requirements.
Education & Professional Certifications
Shannon is a graduate of St. John Fisher College and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Additionally, she holds credentials as a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) by the AICPA, further expanding her ability to integrate technology solutions into audit and accounting practices.
She currently serves as Treasurer for Meals on Wheels of Syracuse, where she is responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
